Introduction
==============

What is MrMail?
MrMail is a shareware product which will asssist in the
mass production of form letters, address labels, return
address labels, and of special interest for shareware
developers, computer disk labels.
Why was MrMail developed?
MrMail was developed to meet a need by Energy Software.
Enertgy Software needed to produce large numbers of form
letter, disk labels, address labels and return address
labels. This was required for the mass mailing of Energy
Software shareware disks.
Requirements
MrMail requires the 256k of memory and a HARD DRIVE.
Help
MrMail contains a HyperText help system. Whenever a
potential question ocurrs either press the 'F1' key or move
the menu selector bar to the "Help" selection.
Load Configure File
=====================
=======================
If more than one MrMail Configure file has been made prior
to program execution you will be asked which file to load.
In order to make the selection move the lighted cursor bar
UP or DOWN. Use up and down arrow keys located on the
keyboard to make the selection. Once the light bar is on
the selected item press ENTER to load the file.

Print Letters

This selection will print the actual letter developed in
the other selections. In order to print the letters press
ENTER. You will asked if you desire a test print, either
select 'Y' or 'N'. Once this is complete you will be
informed to insure the printer is on line. Once the
printer is checked, press any key to start printing the
desired letter. To pause printing at any time press any
key, you will be asked if you desire to QUIT or CONTINUE.
A 'Y' or 'N' is response is required.
Print Address Labels

This selection will print the address labels to all entries
in the database, entered in the database application
section. In order to print the address labels move the
light bar to the 'Print address label' selection and then
press ENTER. You will asked if you desire a test print,
either select 'Y' or 'N'. Once this is complete you will
be informed to insure the printer is on line. Once the
printer is checked, press any key to start printing the
address labels. To pause printing at any time press any
key, you will be asked if you desire to QUIT or CONTINUE.
A 'Y' or 'N' is response is required.
Print Return Labels

This selection will print the return labels to all entries
in the database, entered in the database application
section. In order to print the return labels move the
light bar to the 'Print Return Label' selection and then
press ENTER. You will asked if you desire a test print,
either select 'Y' or 'N'. Once this is complete you will
be informed to insure the printer is on line. Once the
printer is checked, press any key to start printing the
return labels. To pause printing at any time press any
key, you will be asked if you desire to QUIT or CONTINUE.
A 'Y' or 'N' is response is required.

Return label count
This entry requests the number of return address labels to
print. Valid entries are between 1 and 9999. To enter the
data simply type in the number and press ENTER.
Print Disk Labels

Disk name
5.25" Labels
This entry is the title of the computer disk label. The
length of the entry is 20 characters. All keyboard
characters are valid entries. This entry is printed in
doublewidth mode which is 5 character per inch. MrMail is
designed to be used with labels 3.5" x 15/16". To enter
data simply type the label title and press return. It is
recommended your disk title occupy this line.
3.5" Labels
This entry is the title of the computer disk label. The
length of the entry is 40 characters. All keyboard
characters are valid entries. This entry is printed in
compressed mode which is 17 character per inch. MrMail is
designed to be used with labels 2.75" x 2.75". To enter
data simply type the label title and press return. It is
recommended your disk title occupy this line.
Disk lines
5.25" Labels
This entry provides space to list computer disk filenames,
copyright information, address information or any other
information considered useful by the user. Each line is
limited to 60 spaces in length. All keyboard characters
are valid. To enter data simply type the label title and
press return. Use the up and down arrow keys to move from
line to line. An example is given given below:

3.5" Labels
This entry provides space to list computer disk filenames,
copyright information, address information or any other
information considered useful by the user. Each line is
limited to 40 spaces in length. All keyboard characters
are valid. To enter data simply type the label title and
press return. Use the up and down arrow keys to move from
line to line. An example is given given below:

Disk margin
When printing this is the amount of space desired as a left
hand margin. A valid entry is 0 through 9 spaces.

Disk spaces
5.25" Labels
This entry reflects the amount of space required between
disk labels. MrMail was designed to be used with single
width 3.5" wide by 15/16 tall with 1" between labels. The
spacing between this type of label is 6 spaces. Valid
MrMail entries are 5 to 9.
3.5" Labels
This entry reflects the amount of space required between
disk labels. MrMail was designed to be used with single
width 2.75" wide by 2.75" tall with 2 7/8" between labels.
The spacing between this type of label is 6 spaces. Valid
MrMail entries are 15 to 19.
Disk print quality
This entry allows the disk labels to be printed in either
DRAFT or Near Letter Quality (NLQ) mode. Printing in Near
Letter Quality mode requires about twice the time to
produce labels. To change the entry press the SPACE bar
once. Once the desire choice is made press ENTER.
Disk printer type
MrMail will work with printers which emulate either an IBM
or Epson type printer. To change the entry press the SPACE
bar once. Once the desire choice is made press ENTER. Refer
to your printer manual to see which type your printer will
emulate.
Disk label count
This entry requests the number of disk labels to print.
Valid entries are between 1 and 9999. To enter the data
simply type in the number and press return
Database Application

If a database application had been entered in the configure
file moving the highlighted bar to this selection will
allow you to access the database. Use up and down arrow
keys located on the numeric keyboard once the selection
has been made press ENTER to load the selection.
Word Processor Application
============================
==============================
If a word processor application had been entered in the
configure file moving the highlighted bar to this selection
will allow you to access the word processor. Use the arrow
keys, * and *, located on the numeric keyboard once the
selection has been made press ENTER to load the selection.
Build letter
In order to use the 'print letter' function of MrMail you
must have a letter shell. A letter shell is the basic form
letter in which you desire to send to every firm or
person. This is done by writing a letter with NO header
information. Header information is the formalities at the
top of any letter, which includes: date, salutation, firm
name, address, city, state and zip. The basic requirements
for the letter is it must be in ASCII format and less than
48 lines in length. ASCII format is available for export
by most good word processors or text editors. MrMail will
use any file placed in the same directory as MRMAIL.EXE.
WARNING : When the requirment for a comma exists use the '|'
character instead, Mrmail will convert it to a comma prior
to printing. The '|' is above the back slash.
Set Up
========

Letter
========
Letterhead, print the letterhead
This entry, if selected, will automatically print a
letterhead at the top of each letter. This entry is
extremely useful when using tractor feed paper. The printed

letterhead includes your firm name, address, city, state,
zip code and phone number. All this information is center at
the top of the page, regardless of entry length. To
activate this entry use the 'X' key. Valid entries
include: x, X, or SPACE. Once the entry has been selected
press ENTER.
Letterhead name
This entry is the user's firm name for printing at the top
of the letterhead. If 'print the letterhead' was selected
a name must be entered.
Letterhead address
This entry is your firm's address. If 'print the
letterhead' was selected an address must be entered.
Letterhead city, state, zip
This entry is the firm's city, state and zip. If 'print
the letterhead' was selected a city, state and zip must be
entered.
Letterhead phone number
This entry is the firm's phone number. If 'print the
letterhead' was selected a phone number should be entered.
Letterhead pause between pages
This entry if selected will cause the printer to be paused
after each letter has been printer. This entry is useful
when printing on letterhead or single sheets of paper.
To activate this entry use the 'X' key. Valid entries
include: x, X, or SPACE. Once the entry has been selected
press ENTER.
Letterhead lines per pages
This entry selects the length of the page on which the
letter is to be printed. Standard paper is 66 lines per
inch, this is the default. This entry is any from 40 to 80.

Letterhead top margin
When printing this is the number of lines from the top of
the page. It is recommended that the entry be set at 5,
however; any number between 0-9 may be selected.
Letterhead left margin
When printing this is the amount of space desired as a left
margin. A valid entry is 0 through 9 spaces.
Letterhead capitalize
This entry will capitalize the first line of the
letterhead. To activate this entry use the 'X' key. Valid
entries include: x, X, or SPACE. Once the entry has been
selected press ENTER.
Letterhead doublewidth
This entry if activated will make the first line of the
letterhead doublewidth. Doublewidth is considered 5
characters per inch. If this entry is selected the firm
name will be centered on the top of the page.
Letter print quality
This entry allows the letter to be printed in either DRAFT
or Near Letter Quality (NLQ) mode. Printing in Near Letter
Quality requires about twice the time to produce labels.
To change the entry press the SPACE bar once. Once the
desire choice is made press ENTER.
Letter label printer type
MrMail will work with either an IBM or Epson type printers.

Address Labels
================
Address margin
When printing this is the amount of space desired as a left
margin. A valid entry is 0 through 9 spaces.
Address spaces
This entry reflects the amount of space required between
address labels. MrMail was designed to be used with single
width 3.5" wide by 15/16 tall with 1" between labels. The
spacing between this type of label is 6 spaces. Valid
MrMail entries are 5 to 9.
Address label attention
This entry is the default entry for the address label. If
an individual or department is not named this entry will be
used. Below reflect several possible defaults:
* For computer user groups the default would be Librarian.
* For software publishers the default would be Author
Relations.
* For magazine reviews of software use Publisher.
Address label capitalization
This entry will capitalize the first line of the address
label. To activate this entry use the 'X' key. Valid
entries include: x, X, or SPACE. Once the entry has been
selected press ENTER.
Address label doublewidth
This entry if activated will make the first line of the
address label doublewidth. Doublewidth is considered 5
characters per inch. If this entry is selected the only the
first 17 characters of the firm name will be printed.

Return Labels

Return address label name
This entry is the user's firm name. It should be the same
as on the your firms letterhead.
Return label attention
This entry is the individual or department for the firm
which will handle this action.
Return address label address
This entry is the firm's address. If 'print the
letterhead' was selected this address should be the same as
the letterhead.
Return address label city, state, zip
This entry is the firm's city, state and zip. If 'print
the letterhead' this entry should be the same.

Return label spaces
This entry reflects the amount of space required between
return address labels. MrMail was designed to be used with
single width 3.5" wide by 15/16 tall with 1" between
the top to top of each label. The spacing between this type
of label is 6 spaces. Valid MrMail entries are 5 to 9.
Return label margin
When printing this is the amount of space desired as a left
margin. A valid entry is 0 through 9 spaces.

Colors and Applications

MrMail colors
MrMail is capable of displaying either monochrome or color
screen configurations. In order to select a different
color configuration press the SPACE bar. Once a desired
color combination has been selected press the ENTER key
and your choice will be saved.
DataBase name
Once MrMail is operational the user may access a database
application. To evoke this option enter the database name in
this entry. MrMail will occupy only 35k of RAM while
shelling to an application. 30k of memory is used for the
command processor and 5k is used for MrMail.
DataBase start directory
This is the directory which contains the desired
database application. The directory is checked prior to
proceeding to insure it is valid.
DataBase file name
This entry is the file name of the database. As an
example using MrMail, the file name to be used would be
MRMAIL. This entry is limited to 8 digits in length.
DataBase file extension
This entry is the file extension of the database. As an
example using MrMail, the file extension to be used would
be EXE. MrMail will except the following extensions as
valid: BAT, COM or EXE. This entry is limited to 3
characters.

DataBase parameter
If using any command line entries this is the place to put
them. Certain databases will allow the user to place
information after the file name to setup a database in
a desired manner. This entry will allow the user to enter
upto 40 characters.
Database file name
This is the name of the database to be used when working
with MrMail. The entry is limited to 12 characters. The
format for building a MrMail database is easy and can be
built using a word processor. The required length of the 5
fields are as follows:

City, State, Zip 32
Each of the fields is a fixed length, it means that even
though the firm name Energy Software is 15 characters long
17 additional blanks are also required. the other 3 field
are also handled the same way. An example is shown below:

Database programs which produce standard ASCII type
database file may also be used as long as a carriage return
is placed after each record. A record is one complete
name, attention, address, city_state_zip entry.

Word processor name
Once MrMail is operational the user may access a word
processing application. To evoke this option enter the
database name in this entry. MrMail will occupy only 35k
of RAM while shelling to an application. 30k of memory is
used for the command processor and 5k is used for MrMail.
Word processor start directory
This is the directory which contains the desired
word processor. The directory is checked prior to proceeding
to insure it is valid.

This entry is the file name of the word processor. As an
example using MrMail, the file name to be used would be
